Sez Who?

OK, OK, you can call It Frisco if you insist. So why does this blog's title command you not to? Because calling it the F-word marks you as an outsider, and implies a false familiarity with The City that will certainly not score you any points with the locals. Plus it just sounds stupid.

Why?

This blog aims to give tourists, newbies, and expats alike a sense of what this town is really about, in the hopes that they too can appreciate this unique place that I call home. Part of this goal is educating the uninitiated in the ways of the native San Franciscan which, admittedly, can be a rather illusive and contradictory creature. Yes we pride ourselves on being progressive but will fight tooth-and-nail over the smallest change. We also love diversity and yet have little tolerance for those who don't share our values.

Once you get over our quirks, however, you are likely to find an open and laid-back community that is always willing to share the joys of this great city with those who were not lucky enough to have been born here. That is, of course, as long as you follow the countless unwritten rules of San Francisco etiquette, the first of which is...Don't Call It Frisco!

About Me

Treppenwitz
I am a woman shaped by the city of my birth. Cable cars, clam chowder, Coit tower...wait, that's not my San Francisco. My San Francisco is foggy mornings, eating dim sum for breakfast, riding Muni, and most importantly being surrounded by people from all over who have chosen this great city to call home because of its reputation as a place of freedom and tolerance. This is my San Francisco, and to know it is to know me. Questions or comments? You can reach me at dontcallitfrisco AT hotmail DOT com
